Bryan grew up in Boise and has been attending Euclid since 2018. Though he has lived in many different parts of the country, Boise has always been home. He is particularly grateful that he gets to live with his wife Tara and two sons just a short distance from this beautiful little church. He is excited to learn, serve, and participate in the kingdom with this congregation as disciples walking the way of Christ.

Bryan is an avid reader and writer. He finds joy in the mountains, in tending his garden with his family, and on long runs and bike rides. He teaches High School English and holds an BA in English & Creative Writing (University of Washington, 2013) and an MA in Education, Curriculum, Instruction, and Foundational Studies (Boise State, 2022). He is currently enrolled at NNU, pursuing an MA in Pastoral Ministry.

Pastor Katy Nelson

Pastor of Community Engagement

Katy’s early years were spent as the eldest child on a family of 9 siblings and her early adult years were spent working as an admin, at one point working for a director of churches in Pennsylvania.

Katy has always had a love for outreach to her local area, involving herself in neighborhood outreach, leading to working with local ministries reaching those who may seem unreachable. She has directed daycare, afterschool and summer recreation programs, a women’s shelter, and kids camps.

She has served women and couples by organizing social activities, walks/dine-outs, women’s day outings, retreats, and Bible studies.

Life in pastoral ministry began in 2001, with the ORPAC ministry as an Outreach Director, moving quickly to Children’s Pastor. She was ordained in 2006. Following ordination she was voted in as the Children’s District Director, and spent time equipping children’s pastors and workers with the Sunday School team through the General Church.

Katy enjoys living in Boise, after growing up in Portland, Oregon, graduating high school in Myerstown, Pennsylvania. She raised her boys in Oregon City, Oregon, moving to Corvallis, Oregon in 2009. Katy was widowed in 2015. In 2016 she found herself in Boise, where she met Scott Nelson. They were married in 2017. Today their family includes 4 adult sons and 5 grandchildren.

Katy loves Boise because of its small city feel and more than enough to fill her love for the outdoors -walking, hiking, camping, and exploring sites unknown! She loves meeting new people and experiencing new things.

Together, Katy and Scott enjoy biking, traveling, and hockey “Go Steelies” and yes, Katy is a “Golden Knight” fan!

One common thing people say about Katy: She loves change and has never met a stranger.
